The English department at our college arranged a vibrant and unforgettable intercollegiate competition on September 16, 2012, with the goal of fostering a solid foundation in the English language and honing exceptional communication skills to support professional progress. In order to uncover the students hidden talents, competitions for essay writing, verse writing, ads-zap, and just a minute were held. This event lasted the entire day and took place on the college campus. More than 30 colleges from Chennai participated in this massive event. Everyone applied glue to the occasion.The spectacular spectacle got underway when numerous teams from various colleges arrived. The presidential address was given by our principal, who emphasised the importance of these events and thanked the eager students for attending. Our college's chairman and secretary were the main guests. They were impressed and gave the event high praise. Queen Mary's college won the overall championship. The formal vote of thanks came afterwards. The programme introduced the students to the beauty of English literature and was enlightening and eye opening. We left with the honest wish that similar large-scale events will be held annually to give the youngsters a chance to showcase their talents after having a great time.
